The Department is headed by Dr. Vladimir S. Kovalenko, Dean of the Engineering College and also Director of the Laser Technology Research Institute.
Dr. Kovalenko, Academician of Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine, Active Member of New York Academy of Sciences, Vice-Chairman of the Laser Association of the CIS, IEEE, LEOS, a member of the Laser Institute of America, Canadian Industrial Laser Association etc. He has been invited as an expert of UNDP to China, was lecturing in different universities and companies of USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Taiwan, and other countries, in 1993 he has been elected as Distinguished Vising Professor of Ohio State University (USA).
At our College and Department we have really the international community. Together with students from Ukraine we have the students from Algeria, Afganistan, Bahrain, Egypt, China, Germany, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Kongo, India, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libia, Marocco, Jordan, Oman, Palestine, Pakistan, Peru, Senegal, Soudan, Syria, Shrilanka, Vietnam, Turkey, Tunisia, Yemen, USA and other countries.
For foreign students we have Preparatory Division to study Russian and Ukraine language and to refresh basic knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry and other. |
After Preparatory Division course graduation the student can join any of mentioned below specialities:
1. Master, bachelor in Mech. Eng. with specialization on high technologies of material processing (laser technology and other non conventional technologies).
This modern specialization opens you the secret of how to manufacture up to date very efficient machines, devices and different equipment.
You will becime an expert both in traditional (mechanicial) and non traditional methoda of material machining (laser, electro discharge, electro-chemical, ultra sonic, electron beam and others).
The main disciplines are as follows:
- laser physics,
- design of laser industrial systems,
- laser beam interaction with matter,
- laser surface treatment,
- optics for industrial laser systems,
- different applications of lasers, etc.
2. Master in Mech. Eng. with specialization - laser system for medicine and biology.
Main disciplines:
- laser radiation interaction with biological matter,
- anatomy and physiology of human,
- laser physics, etc.
Experts in this fieldmay join different medical centers, involved in treatment of skin, eyes, stomach and other diseases.
